FamilyOnTheRun

Soon our kid will be graduating in middle school and prepping for it will cost some money.
From the graduation cap and gown to the things that needed to be bought, not to mention the gifts, dinner and parties with close friends!

There are so many things to pay that our child will be finishing soon with 8th grade. The cap and gown will cost $25 and they will also be going to a field trip to an amusement park which will cost $40!

Since our child will also be prepping for college, we wanted to buy him his own computer. We wanted a computer that will serve its way until college. We found one but it`ll cost $600, which is not in the budget at the moment ( with all the things we need to prepare for him after graduation) so we have to pass on that for now.

Instead of giving him a computer, we will give him simple gifts and throw a party for him. A simple one of course, with family and close friends. We also planned on having a picnic with the kids to celebrate with a budget of $15!

Yes, we have spent a lot this time and for a budget wise person like us, we won’t be thinking about that this time. For we are very happy and proud –everything is worth it!

We are still excited from the fact that they will be moving on with the next chapter of their education. Time flies so fast isn’t? it’s like reminding us that our kids will soon have to leave us for college. But as a parent, we must face this and let them achieve their goals in life.

So how are you doing with your preparations?

Have you ever suffered from seasonal allergies? Sneezing like crazy in front of everybody and been debating with yourself on whether you should rub your eyes or not. How frustrating isn’t? that you have to deal with it every year when pollens are flying everywhere.

Then we look for a “cure” that will somewhat help us in elevating the suffering that we have to endure during these seasons. Over the counter medicines are readily available for consumption but being dependent on these kinds of drugs will somehow makes our body immune to it overtime. Though antihistamine drugs are effective, it can have side effects such as dry mouth, drowsiness and the worst is seizures. That is why it is better to find natural remedies and since I am a fan of tea, I found out about nettle tea.

“Why nettle tea? Isn`t that the one that stings” yes, nettles are the plants that attacks your legs when you go hiking. It may sound strange to you that a plant like this would help you with your allergies but they are actually the very solution to your problem. But of course, every individual is different so you may want to consult with your health care practitioner first before adding nettle to your diet.

Nettles have anti-inflammatory qualities that`s why they will work with interfering the overproduction of histamines in our body. It is best to start drinking the nettle tea when the symptoms first appear.

Though you may not like the grassy taste of nettle tea especially if you are not a fan of tea at all. You may want to find a tea that has a peppermint or vanilla or any taste that you prefer such as The Republic of Tea`s Peppermint Vanilla Nettle blend or . If you can`t find it, you can experiment a little bit with the plain nettle tea that you have. Add some bag of peppermint tea or use some local honey along with it.

To get all the benefits from it, let it seat for at least ten minutes. Cover it while you wait, we don’t want the important stuffs to get evaporated along with the steam. Now you can finally enjoy the beauty of spring.

Middle school is the stage wherein your kids’ education starts to get complicated. They`ll get busy from the academics down to the social scene, and we wanted a school with a good environment that will best fit them. After all, they`ll be in there for quite some time.

So how to do we do it? Here are some of the things we look at in choosing the right one

School Environment
First, we wanted a school that has a good environment and safe. Who wouldn’t want that? Right? The student-teacher ratio should be low so that your child will have the attention they need. The school`s policy should be agreeable for both parents and students. They must also have afterschool activities, clubs or any activities that will help with the development of your children. Most importantly, the school must be proactive with dealing with bullying.

Child Preference
It is important that your child likes the school, for they will be the one to attend after all. Although you may want to admit your kids to a very good school, just must make sure that they will fit and interested on the school they will be attending to. Never force your child to enter to a school just because it has a name. It will only hinder on your child`s interests and talents and in the end, they may get uninterested with school anymore.

Academics
Do a little bit of research about the school that you have chosen. Do they teach well and can adjust depending on each student’s needs? Does the school have facilities that will further help on your child`s learning? Does the school offer the extra-curricular activity that your child would want to participate to? Also, find out on whether the students who graduated from that school are doing good in their high school life.

Convenience

Before enrolling your child to a school that you have chosen, you need to assess your financial status too. Also ask yourself if the schools location is not a problem with you, if it is only near where your home is and if it is convenient for your child to get to. Know the school`s policy regarding on how they keep track with their students’ progress to parents.
